Lu Li

VIolin

As a violin soloist, chamber musician and orchestra member, since the age of six, Lu Li, has appeared in Young Artist competitions and music festivals in China. She received her MM degree in France and USA, and completed DMA degree in violin performance, orchestral conducting and string pedagogy at University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), USA. Ms. Li received support from ArtsWave Music Foundation and Otto M.Budig Family Foundation, and has given over 15 solo recitals and over 70 chamber music recitals within the years she stays in the United States. 

 

Ms. Li is currently working in Queen City Opera, Springfield Symphony Orchestra and Lieto Quartet in Ohio, USA.  As an active violinist, she has been invited to perform in several top international music festivals which include Lucerne Festival (Switzerland), Aspen Music Festival (USA), Northern Lights Music Festival (USA), Spoleto Festival (Italy), “Aujourd'hui” Music Festival (France), and Le Boulou Music Festival (France/Spain). Ms. Li is the winner of the First Prize of Charleston International Music Competition in USA, Silver Medal of the 5th International Moscow Music Competition, the Third Prize of London International Music Competition and Red Maple International Music Competition in Canada.

Pin-Hsuan Bella Chen

Violin

Rising violinist Pin-Hsuan Chen was born and raised in Taiwan. She came to the United States to study at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she received her master’s degree, and is currently completing her doctoral degree, with a special focus on the violin orchestral excerpts. She has studied with former Cincinnati Symphony Concertmaster Timothy Lees, principal second violin Gabriel Pegis, Ming-Shi Du, and is currently studying with Won-Bin Yim and Minyoung Baik

 

Pin-Hsuan maintains a busy schedule of professional orchestral performances; she plays in the Lexington Philharmonic, the Dayton Philharmonic, Queen City Opera, and the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. Chamber music is also an integral part of her life; she has performed in chamber groups coached by the Ariel Quartet and Miami Quartet, and she is currenting in Lieto String Quartet since 2021, and won the first prize of Maple Wood Ensemble Competition and Global Genius Music Competition in United Kingdom. As a soloist, Pin-Hsuan won the Taichung City Music Competition and represented Taichung City in the National competition in Taiwan. 2nd prize of Kings Peak International Music Competition, and 3rd prize of Young Soloist International Music Competition. She also performed as a concerto soloist with the Taipei Youth Festival Orchestra.

Yu-Ting Judy Huang

viola

Born in Taipei, Taiwan. Yu-Ting is an active chamber and orchestral musician. She has performed in the United States, Europe, and Taiwan with groups such as the New World Symphony Orchestra, Civic Orchestra, Lima Symphony Orchestra, Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, Queen City Opera as well as Principal Viola for the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music’s Philharmonia Orchestra. She is a member of the Lieto Quartet, Cincinnati New Music Ensemble, and Immaculata Chamber Music Series.

She has attended music festivals such as Bowdoin International Music Festival, Prague Summer Nights, Summit Music Festival, and Formosa Chamber Music Festival. Yu-Ting has played in masterclasses for the principal viola of the Cleveland Orchestra, Wesley Collins, the President of the Curtis Institute of Music and former principal viola of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Roberto Diaz, and the member of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Caroline Coade.

Yu-Ting completed her bachelor's at Taipei National University of Arts and her Master's degree at College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati. Her previous private teacher includes Yi-Wen Chao, Matthew Daline, Catharine Lees, and Jan Grüning. She is a recipient of the Artist Excellent Award scholarship and currently studying at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University under Choong-Jin Chang, the Principal Viola of the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Wei-Shuan Yu

Cello

Wei-Shuan Yu received the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts in Cello Performance at the University of Cincinnati – College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). She was awarded the Graduate Incentive Award under the guidance of Professor Lee Fiser, former cellist of LaSalle Quartet. Besides serving as section cellist in the Lima Symphony and Butler Philharmonic Orchestra, Wei-Shuan formed Lieto Quartet with CCM alumni and has performed frequently in greater Cincinnati area since 2019. 

Originally from Taiwan, Wei-Shuan began to play piano and cello during her childhood. At the age of 14, she made her solo debut with an orchestra performing Saint-Saëns’ Cello Concerto. As a winner of the Concerto Competition when studying at the National Sun-Yat Sen University for her bachelor’s degree, she performed Dvorak’s Cello Concerto with the University’s Symphony Orchestra. 

 

 

To expand her artistic boundaries, Wei-Shuan has been dedicated to the performances of new music as well as old. She has presented premieres of new music at CCM and also the Midwest Composers Symposium at the University of Iowa. Pursuing a strong interest in early music, she studied viola da gamba with Annalisa Pappano, the director of Catacoustic Consort, and has been playing it since 2013. She was the recipient of the 2017 Nicolas Fortin Scholarship from Bourbon Baroque.
